Writing Insecurities

To Publish, or Not to Publish? That is the question.

I’ve always struggled with thoughts that my writing is not good enough. That if I shared it with the world it would just get trashed, or mocked, or just buried under a mountain of unpleasant criticism. But over time I’ve come to the realization that I will never know what people think of my writing unless I put it out there. So that is what I am going to do. I’m starting small, publishing short stories, poems, and books chapter-by-chapter on this website, in the hopes that people will stumble across them and actually enjoy them. From there, I hope to publish. I love to write, and I want to write things that people will love and share with others. But that all starts with actually putting my writing in a place others can read it.

I have actually completed my poetry collection, To Drown In a Sea of Stars, and am currently formatting it for publishing. Several poems from this collection are posted in the Poetry Corner Group in the chat section, if anyone would like to check those out. I hope to have it published by the end of this year, if possible. I will post more info about this as time goes on, but for the moment, I’m going to continue posting short stories and books chapter-by-chapter until people notice, lol.

As someone who is next-to-broke , I’m currently running off of hope and caffeine. Lots of both. Write a few sentences, sip coffee. Repeat. (I had three cups of coffee in two hours. Don't judge me.)

There are several true quotes about writing that i found recently, and I'll paste them here:

Anne Lamott: "You do an awful lot of bad writing in order to do any good writing."

Maya Angelou: "The idea is to write it so that people hear it and it slides through the brain and goes straight to the heart."

Ernest Hemingway: "There is nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at the typewriter and bleed."

These are so immensely true. Writing can be difficult at times (cough, all the time) and it takes perserverance and a dream to get a book finished. I've certainly got the dream, and I'm working on the perserverance. I am going to get a book published one of these days. Just watch me.

The Wonders of Caffeinated Bean Water

Well, I was going to write an amazing article about how being in the Appalachian mountains inspires me a lot when it comes to writing, but it turns out I got nothing done on this trip, so forget that.

Publishing Poetry

So...It turns out that I cannot publish my poetry collection yet because Amazon will remove it if I don't get enough reviews or if people don't buy it. Or something like that. Point is, I cannot publi
